72 — A Sonic Medicine Journey
Inspired by the seventy-two Names of the Divine and rooted in the mystical teachings of Kabbalah, 72 is a ninety-minute medicine album composed to accompany journeys with sacred fungi and other ceremonial medicines. Created over years of devotion, study, and ceremonial practice, the album offers a carefully crafted sonic landscape for those seeking deeper states of introspection, healing, creativity, and remembrance.
The seventy-two Names are ancient Hebrew sequences derived from the Kabbalistic tradition. Rather than names in the conventional sense, they are understood as energetic keys—frequencies that illuminate qualities such as courage, compassion, surrender, protection, clarity, trust, and transformation. For centuries, practitioners have contemplated these sacred combinations of letters as portals into expanded states of consciousness and deeper communion with the Divine.
In altered states, music has the ability to bypass the analytical mind and speak directly to the subconscious.
72 was created from the inquiry: what happens when sacred sound, ancient wisdom, and intentional ceremony are woven together into a single experience?
Structured around the ceremonial arc commonly experienced in medicine work, the album moves through the elemental realms of air, fire, water, and earth. It begins by opening space and quieting the mind, journeys into the intensity and catharsis of transformation, softens into emotional depth and surrender, and gradually returns the listener to grounding, embodiment, and integration.
Woven throughout the journey are more than twenty instruments—including vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, Native flute, harmonica, percussion, frame drum, harp, oud, violin, cello, shruti, sarangi, didgeridoo, bass, synthesizers, chalice, singing bowls, and chakapa—alongside sacred Hebrew prayers and ceremonial chants.
The architecture of 72 also draws inspiration from the Tree of Life, the Kabbalistic map of consciousness that traces the movement between heaven and earth, spirit and matter, transcendence and embodiment.
The journey mirrors this descent into the depths of the psyche and the return to wholeness, carrying the listener through moments of expansion, mystery, beauty, and integration.
How to Use 72
72 was intentionally designed for mid-dose medicine journeys and unfolds over approximately ninety minutes. The album can be experienced in a ceremonial setting, during meditation, breathwork, creative practice, or in relationship with sacred fungi and other plant medicines.
For longer journeys, the album may be played on repeat, allowing the musical arc to continue supporting the experience as it evolves.
To create the most supportive container:
Listen with headphones or quality speakers.
Prepare a quiet, comfortable space free from distractions.
Set an intention before beginning.
Keep water, a journal, and anything needed for your ceremony nearby.
Allow the music to guide the experience without forcing meaning or interpretation.
A complete ceremonial package—including guidance, facilitator live music woven with the album timing recommendations, 11 module video on setting up a ceremony, guided meditation—is available separately through Sanctuary 72.
